Fifth Street Black Friday 100
Off-Road Endurance Run & Ride
Established 2022
The Fifth Street Black Friday 100 is an annual endurance event held on the Fifth Street Cross course in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. Taking place the day after Thanksgiving, the event challenges participants to complete long-distance ride and run efforts—up to 100 miles or 100 kilometers—on a short, repeat-lap circuit within a single day.
Athletes may start anytime after midnight and have until late afternoon to complete their chosen distance. Results are determined by total elapsed time, encouraging strategic starts, pacing decisions, and creative approaches to endurance. Participants can compete solo or as part of relay teams, and the event uniquely allows athletes to combine disciplines by running and riding portions of their total distance.
True to Fifth Street’s grassroots ethos, the Black Friday 100 is intentionally low-frills and community-driven. Entry includes a contribution to a shared prize pool, reinforcing the event’s emphasis on camaraderie over spectacle. Riders and runners manage their own support, food, and recovery, creating an environment that rewards self-reliance, teamwork, and shared effort.
Over the years, the Black Friday 100 has become a signature Fifth Street event—recognized for its inventive format, inclusive participation options, and ability to transform a cyclocross course into a full-day endurance challenge rooted in community and creativity.
